What type/kind of electronic drums should i get?
I've been playing an acoustic drum set so I know nothing about electronic drums. So I need some advice on what brand and kind to get My budget is probably up to 700.

Are electronic drums good for playing metal?
I may end up having to invest in some if my acoustics are too loud where I live.

Are electronic drums lame for live band?
I live in cramped apartment conditions so an electronic drum might be the way to go for me. Me and my friends are forming a band. If we were to play live and i showed up with an electronic drum set, what are the odds of me not getting murdered or booed off stage provided i can play well .

Apartment sound proofing for electronic drums!!!???!!!?
So i plan on buying an electronic drum kit to play, but unfortunately i live in an apartment. I have headphones so i don't have to worry about noise coming from the kit. What i do have to worry about is that i'm on the second floor and that every time i hit a drum its going to make a loud contact noise with the floor and the people down stairs will complain. Is there anything i can buy at say home depot like a rubber mat that will absorb the entirety of the impact but is also big enough to cover the base of the kit ? Or just anything that will completely sound proof the floor from impacts ?

Would hitting an electronic drums too hard damage it? (let's say a yamaha dtx's new silicon pads)?
I have been drumming acoustics for years, and planning to change to electronic set because it is quieter. I am just wondering if hitting an electronic pad too hard will damage the pad. The roland e drums pads are now made of mesh, which are more or less the same as acoustic drum heads. I am sure the mesh pads can take a beating. But I am planning to buy the yamaha dtx with its new silicon pads it is cheaper than roland . I am not sure if those silicon pads can take a hard hit and left undamaged. I have seen videos where people playing the yamaha dtx drums. They do not seem to hit it as hard as people hitting acoustic drums. I am not considered as a hard hitting drummer, but we can sometimes get carried away while playing and end up hitting the drums very hard. So, yamaha dtx or roland tdx or stick with acoustics?

What type of amp is best suited for electronic drums?
I have a second level, 1 above entry level, Yamaha dtx500k electronic drum set. I'm looking for, I guess a small cheap practice amp to push it through. I've seen plenty on Craigslist for $20 and up but just noticed someone selling 2 one for guitar and another for a base. As I'm only a beginner I didn't realize there's that type of difference among them. Any recommendation on what I should be looking for??? Thanks

What are good headphones for electronic drums?
i just ordered a yamaha dtxplorer and i was wondering what are a good pair of headphones that are not that expensive like around $40 to $60. i was looking at a pair of Audio Technica ATHM40FS but iam not sure if theses are good for electric drums. if anyone know what a good brand or a good pair of headphones are pleases comment

Acoustic drums or electronic drums?
Well I am a guitarist but i can play a little bit of drums. I wanted to get an E kit so that i can record tracks rather than use superior drummer or garage band software drums.. these lag when I write songs. I have a project that I mostly do everything in.. so its nice to be able to record drums for it as well.I dont think I can find any good sounding Ekit under like.. $400. I would love an acoustic set with real cymbals and stuff but its loud and I live with the parents . Plus I dont own mics to record with. What do you suggest? Anyone got an idea what I could do?thinking about it, i guess I need e drums but .. do they sell like acoustic shells with e heads?

Why don't more bands/singers use electronic drums live?
I make music myself, and believe me, I listen to a tonnn of different music. Something I've noticed in literally every live concert show I've been, and in almost every live recording I've listened to, is that the drums, especially the snare, just sound like shit compared to the album. I know that it's a matter of opinion, but if you listen to a lot of these newer albums, even more garage y stuff like The Strokes, the drums just sound worlds apart on the album compared to the live show, because they use lots of plug ins, effects, and even samples. Another large part of the sound is the way the drums are mic'd. But bands never recreate this during a live show, either. Most of them just use the old " 1 mic on each drum, overheads on the cymbals" setup. So my question is Why don't more drummers use triggers, or electronic drums live? Do they really care enough about the " feel" of the drums to let the sound quality suffer? With today's technology, you can even have realistic dynamics on triggered electronic drums. Thanks for answering my question, but this is exactly the answer I expected to get. I don't know what kind of albums you're talking about, but drum production is definitely not always that simple. Producers and engineers often do things like strange microphone techniques for the kick drum, and often mic the snare from top and bottom. Take Eric Valentine, for example. There's also a lot of detail put into EQ'ing and Compression, and producers will often do things with the snare like add a little bit of distortion for more punch. Also, playing a violin patch on a keyboard is completely different than playing drums with triggers, or using drum pads. The whole point of my question was that you don't have to sacrifice the feel or dynamics of " real" drums if you opt to use triggers or pads nowadays. If anything, it's like asking a violinist to use an electric violin live instead of a regular violin with a mic.

Is there a way to make 8-bit music with electronic drums?
So i play drums and i thought 8 music kinda like C418 but with drums if there is a way what tools do i need?
