How long does it take to play the marching snare drum, really well?
I just bought myself one and i've been practicing a little bit. I only know a few basic rhythms that are at a normal tempo, just a few fast ones as well...but i'm wondering. How long do you think it takes to properly play the marching snare drum?

What two drum heads are a good match for the top and bottom or a snare drum?
My snare's heads are getting beat up and I want to buy a new set of them. Which head should I get for the bottom of the drum and which head should I get for the top of the drum so they sound nice? I was told to get a thicker top head and thinner bottom head. I'd prefer Remo heads, but Evans or Aquarian heads are fine too. As long as both heads are the same brand.
Why so specific on the snare drum?
I've got the Standard of Excellence music book for the snare drum and I just started today. Anyway, I look at a lot of the " songs" and I could easily play it with my right hand and my right hand only, but it's very specific with L and R. Even on just a bunch of quarter notes. It was VERY specific. Please help...

Hey I got a pearl snare and when I hit it it rings. I tighten up my snares it but it still rings. I have one of those jells you can put on but it only helps a little bit. Any suggestions are helpful. Thank you

Need help buying a snare drum Skin?
Ok, im an intermediate drummer, and my current snare drum is " 12 lugs per side 14 x 6 1 2 Metal Snare" and i want a new SKIN, this one sounds wet, even with duct tape on and it's all scratched up and it's got loads of dents. Is it possible to buy a hard skin for a metal drum? because i really like hard skins, they sound much more solid. I don't know how to find the size for the skin, is it the 12 lugs part? the 14x6 part? i don't know that's why i need ur help guys P best answer gets 10 pointioes

I recently bought a 12x5 pearl firecracker snare drum and have been having some trouble getting the overtones out of it. Could somebody give me some tips how to help?I tune it by tightening th lugs by hand first then going half a turn at a time, opposite sides 2 at a timeThanks

Snare Drum Tuning for Post-Hardcore Music?
I am a 5 year drummer that plays stuff on the drums such as The Devil Wears Prada, A Day To Remember, Pierce The Veil, and Attack Attack . I have noticed that when listening and playing along to their songs that all of the drummers' snare drums sound flat but still have the snare in them without the overtones. Is there a way to achieve that kind of sound without any crazy affects? it has been bothering me for a couple months now but i love that kind of snare drum sound.Note If i need to buy Moon Gel then i certainly will for eliminating overtones and if it matters the dimensions of my snare drum are 14x6.
